Located in Åkersberga, in the Stockholm archipelago, this unique eco home was designed by Lowén Widman Architects. With an untouched site that takes in views of the mountain and stately pines of the surrounding forest, the home was designed with respect for the location and with minimal impact on the site. Built from solid wood with an ecologically insulated body and carefully considered details, it is completely free of any plastics or chemicals.
With huge windows and a beautiful flow, the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is filled with light and has a warm, spacious feel. With floors and ceilings made from spun fir, I love how the darker wood of the window frames and oiled oak kitchen provide a contrast to the pale wood surfaces, while the stone benchtop adds further warmth and texture.
The bathrooms feature light grey limestone to compliment the wood finishes. Every room has built in storage and views of the beautiful natural surroundings. Furnished in an understated style with simple Scandinavian design classics, the home has a relaxed, uncluttered feel that speaks of effortless style and a fuss-free life. I love it!
