Timeless Interiors - Inspiration from Zara Home

8.10.2020

For their AW20 campaign, Zara Home have once again teamed up with British interior designer and consultant Rosie Seabrook. Working in London and New York, Rosie creates serene spaces that are imbued with subtle luxury and understated elegance. If you follow her on Instagram, you will know that one of her main influences is Belgian design, and this provides the perfect aesthetic for the latest Zara Home collection. Located in the Flemish countryside, the home belongs to vintage store owner Ann-Sohpie De Stoop and her family, and is designed by Belgian architect Benoît Viaene. Photographed by François Halard, the new collection centres around the art of simplicity. Expressed through new colours and textures, it speaks of a timeless approach, bringing a warmer feeling to the new season. I'll let the beautiful images speak for themselves...

Warmth & Simplicity in an Eco Home North of Stockholm

3.02.2020

Located in Åkersberga, in the Stockholm archipelago, this unique eco home was designed by Lowén Widman Architects. With an untouched site that takes in views of the mountain and stately pines of the surrounding forest, the home was designed with respect for the location and with minimal impact on the site. Built from solid wood with an ecologically insulated body and carefully considered details, it is completely free of any plastics or chemicals.

With huge windows and a beautiful flow, the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is filled with light and has a warm, spacious feel. With floors and ceilings made from spun fir, I love how the darker wood of the window frames and oiled oak kitchen provide a contrast to the pale wood surfaces, while the stone benchtop adds further warmth and texture.

The bathrooms feature light grey limestone to compliment the wood finishes. Every room has built in storage and views of the beautiful natural surroundings. Furnished in an understated style with simple Scandinavian design classics, the home has a relaxed, uncluttered feel that speaks of effortless style and a fuss-free life. I love it!

A Gorgeous Swedish Home with Soft Colours + Clean Lines

5.07.2019

This architect designed villa is located on the idyllic Swedish island of Brännö and features a distinctively Scandinavian style with wood, soft colours and clean lines. Designed in an L-formation, to protect the tranquil garden from both wind and visibility, it has light-filled, open plan living spaces and a guest cottage.

I've always had a soft spot for dark green, and I think this colour choice for a kitchen is gorgeous! Paired with simple plywood and a composite worktop, it ties in beautifully with the home's natural surroundings.

Neutral furnishings and rattan furniture in the living room give the home a relaxed, beach feel. There are also lots of clever built-in elements like the staircase shelving - the perfect place to store firewood!

The peaceful colour scheme continues in the bedrooms with soft shades of pink and blue.

A glimpse of the sunlit cottage below, the all-plywood interior gives the space a real holiday vibe. There's even a yoga studio and tennis courts! See the full house tour here.

Small but Perfectly Formed in Stockholm

8.07.2017

Fully renovated, this delightful 18th century apartment in Stockholm has been impeccably styled by Josefin Hååg for Fantastic Frank. The small, multi-tasking room below incorporates so many lovely elements, including some of my favourite lamps, yet none are competing for attention. Beautifully balanced, it features a warm neutral palette, gorgeous workspace furniture and wonderful picture wall. The built in shelving is ideal for the compact room, while the deep windows and high ceilings increase the sense of space.

Clean lines and pared-back styling carries through to the kitchen and dining space with warm wood, marble and a touch of brass.
