The colour of the ocean and the sky, blue is summery and calming. I find turquoise particularly soothing and for that classic nautical vibe nothing beats navy teamed with white. Over the last couple of summers I've fallen hard for royal blue and that's what inspired this moodboard I curated prior to Christmas. When it comes to interiors, there's one piece in particular that keeps grabbing my attention.
Having seen four incredible homes from around the world whose floors are graced with this amazing rug, it's no wonder I've become so obsessed, and I know I'm not alone. When the house below featured on The Design Files, many readers left comments asking Lucy Feagins where they could get hold of one. Luckily she tracked it down, and it's the Palermo Kilim Rug by Sandra Figuerola for Gan. When you visit the site be prepared to swoon over all their other rugs as well. I was in my element!
This apartment which I discovered via Nordic Design, was styled by Linda Bergroth, a Helsinki and Paris based designer and interior architect. Undoubtedly Scandinavian in style with an all white canvas, the blue of the rug has been repeated in the kitchen with bright glossy cabinetry.
I love how the rug mimics the blue of the water, next to which this incredible home resides. The blue feature wall ties in beautifully.
This gorgeous home in Helsinki belongs to stylist Susanna Vento who I wrote a post on here. Featured on Design*Sponge, this is where I initially saw the rug and it was love at first sight! Susanna has layered it with a black and white striped rug, and the effect is sensational.
Oh, I am sooo in love with this colour at the moment. I'm trying to talk the Mr into painting the back wall of our bedroom in it to anchor the bed, and then add an amazing piece of abstract art - needless to say, he is not keen, so frustrating!!! And yes, that rug is awesome, I've seen it a lot, and love the blue, black & white combo. x
