Our Stay at the Luxurious Sofitel Wellington

12.06.2017

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that my family and I enjoyed a little pre-Christmas getaway in Wellington on the weekend, staying at the beautiful Sofitel Wellington hotel. The exquisite 5-star hotel recently reopened its doors after a temporary hiatus, offering a refined yet relaxed environment for locals, kiwi travellers and tourists alike.

The hotel accommodated our family perfectly with two interconnecting rooms featuring serene views of the Wellington Botanic Gardens and hills of Karori. A quite and serene outlook despite the hotel's central location, we loved that it was located within walking distance of so many places on our list to visit including Te Papa museum and Oriental Bay. The texture-rich rooms feature warm velvet elements and brass vintage gold detailing inspired by Wellington's colonial heritage and sophisticated French elegance. The luxurious theme carries through to the beautiful new Jardin Grill restaurant with gorgeous jewell tones and a striking floral interior. Dining here and experiencing the delicious French cuisine accented with local flavours and specialties was one of the many highlights of our stay.

We also loved the sophisticated ambience of the The Green Room lounge which features luxe leather seating, eye-catching brass shelving and a stunning marble fireplace. I particularly love the huge floral art works by art photographer Vicky Fulton which grace the walls of the lounge and lobby. I highly recommend trying one of the botanically inspired gin and tonics from special collection designed in collaboration with East Imperial!
