Citta Design Preview | Postcards from Palm Springs

7.20.2016

Last night I attended the Citta Design Summer 2016|2017 launch at their newly renovated Auckland showroom. The stunning space showcased the new collection 'Wish You Were Here - Postcards from Palm Springs'. Capturing the sun, fun and laid-back luxury of this famous desert resort, the gorgeous palette immediately drew me in. Sun-warmed and earthy, punctuated with modernist brights and the occasional metallic, the colours reflect all of the natural elements that make up Palm Springs -  from the chalky pastels of wind-eroded rocks, the faded greens and bleached out blues of cacti, to the cerulean blue of a twilit desert sky and toasted yellows which call to mind lingering sunsets. Ahhhh... sound's dreamy doesn't it? Now for the eye candy....

The collection evokes the lightness, optimism and ease of the 1950s Desert Modern with its airy interiors, sleek touches of luxe, clean lines and angles. Beautifully tactile, the natural fabrics and ceramics feature deconstructed botanical and architectural prints, inspired by the aesthetic of the Desert Modernist architecture and its cool surfaces of concrete and stone. Many of the collections earthy natural textures take their cue from traditional weaving and art of Native American tribes - the areas original inhabitants.

An exciting addition to the new collection is the Pop outdoor furniture range designed by Robin Delaere. Fully modular, the gorgeous pieces feature a non-toxic aluminium frame and colour-fast upholstery fabric, both of which will stand up to the outdoor elements of UV rays, chorine, salt water and washing.

Hmm.. I definitely wish I were there, don't you? The new collection will be available from August so not long to wait!
