Rebubliek Bloemendaal | A Seaside Restaurant by Anne Claus Interiors

6.22.2020

Republiek Bloemandaal is a beachside restaurant located an hour from central Amsterdam. Originally operating as a temporary pavilion, erected and dismantled every summer, it has now become a permanent year-round space. Designed by Dutch architect Heiko Hulsker, the owners enlisted Anne Claus Interiors to create the interior spaces. With sand-coloured walls and a mix of linen, cane and teak wood furnishings, the restaurant brings nature indoors, providing a wonderful sense of cohesion with its beautiful surroundings.

Aside from the warm earthy palette and use of natural materials, I love how the high ceilings have been used to full advantage with the installation of tall indoor trees and the hanging of paper pendant lights to form a sculptural element. The restaurant features a mix of formal dining areas and relaxed lounge areas. My favourite area is the one with the built-in seating around the fireplace. What a wonderfully cosy spot to enjoy a pre-dinner drink!
