Late last year I collaborated with COAST New Zealand to create some some Luxury Beanbags for our deck refresh. Custom-made through their bespoke fabric service, I was in my element choosing from the extensive range of Sunbrella Fabrics. Teaming up again, this time the focus is on their incredible range of cushions. While I did touch on these last year, picking out some complimentary ones from the showroom to style our deck, this time round I got to select my own fabrics and have them made up especially to share with you. Such a fun process, I discovered that like the beanbags, the cushions work equally well indoors, and in fact, more and more people are buying the cushions specifically for their interior spaces, in the furniture grade Upholstery. An easy way to update your living room, I was excited to introduce some colour and texture to our space.
This Upholstery-Grade Sunbrella Blend fabric collection is a woven medley of yarns which has a wonderful soft texture and a similar aesthetic to a heavy linen - yet extremely enduring. A stunning colour pallet of nine hues, they work well teamed together and mixed with other upholstery fabrics, and suit both indoor and outdoor settings.
With over 200 fabrics to choose from, I started by bringing home the swatch book and testing out some fabrics against our living room sofas. For our grey sofa, I mixed black and beige with a touch of reddy-brown. In addition to a vast range of colourways, the fabrics offer a lots of different finishes. So if like me, you prefer the neutral and muted hues, you can inject interest by way of texture. There are also plenty of patterned fabrics to choose from, if you're wanting to layer in a graphic edge.
Another great feature of the COAST cushions is that they come in three different sizes. The 50 x 50 size is ideal for sofas, and I love layering these with the 60 x 40 size for added comfort. The larger 60 x 60 size works particularly well in outdoor spaces.
The close-up photo above shows the textural finishes of the fabrics. The beige has a slight sheen to it that looks so pretty when the light hits it.

For our second sofa I chose two gorgeous neutrals to compliment the tan leather, and tie in with the surrounding art and pieces on the shelves. I love how cohesive it looks.

Later this week I'll be sharing my selections for our deck!
