The Scandinavian Home | A New Book by Niki Brantmark

4.21.2017

Yesterday I shared a little teaser of my beautiful new book The Scandinavian Home : Interiors inspired by light on Instagram. Written by the lovely Niki Brantmark of world renowned blog My Scandinavian Home, the book showcases the distinctive style that Scandinavia is famous for: homes are pared-back and simple, and form and function are combined to create aesthetically pleasing and practical interiors. House designs tend to maximise the amount of natural light that enters the home and are made warm and cosy for the cold winter months.

The Scandinavian Home showcases a wide range of these beautiful homes from city dwellings, with both modern apartments and smart townhouses to country homes, which show the Scandinavian take on country style with laid-back, bohemian homes. Also featured are stunning retreats, including a Norwegian mountain cabin and a Danish beach house.

'Renovated Serenity' is one of the homes that I was immediately drawn to. Located on the west coast of Skåne in southern Sweden, it is owned by interior stylist and store owner Josephine Ekström, her engineer husband and three children. Niki who moved to Sweden from London ten years ago, writes effortlessly about the home's eclectic blend of iconic design pieces and vintage finds, the warm textural elements and unique details. Paired with stunning photography by James Gardiner, it's easy to get lost inside the beautiful pages. I can't wait to read more.

  1. Thank you so much for the lovely review Michelle! I am so happy you like my book. I love Josephine Ekström's home too. she's a real dab hand at picking things up at flea markets and antiques for a song, and I love all the natural textures she's used in her home. She's great fun to hang out with too :) have a great weekend! /Niki
