The Department Store | Part Three

Karen Walker

Karen Walker, The Department Store

Arguably the biggest fashion designer to come out of New Zealand, Karen Walker is also part of the group behind The Department Store. If you are just joining in on this series, take a look at Part One and Part Two to learn more about this luxury retail space on Auckland's North Shore.

Karen Walker has become an internationally renowned fashion brand, favoured by celebrities such as Rihanna, Florence Welch and Natalie Portman. Stocked in 600 stores worldwide, Karen Walker product can be found in New York (where she shows each season as part of New York Fashion Week), London, Los Angeles, Sydney and Tokyo. In New Zealand there are five Karen Walker flagship stores, including the boutique at The Department Store. Located on the ground floor, it stocks all three of the Karen Walker clothing ranges, as well as her fine jewellery and eyewear collections.

I love Karen Walker dresses, and these ones are a standout for me. Part of the ready-to-wear collection for Fall 2012, these were shown at NY Fashion Week in February, to rave reviews. Bravo Karen!

'Karen Walker is a fashion brand with a reputation for its original, effortless and unpretentious style'. This is reflected in Karen's Auckland home which she shares with husband Mikhail Gherman, the creative director of Karen Walker, and their daughter Valentina. It features an amazing art collection, fabulous kitchen and superb outdoor living, all brilliantly captured by photographer Todd Selby, for his website
