Northcote House by Studio 11:11

12.20.2021

Today I’m sharing a home in Northcote, Auckland, that has been beautifully curated by Studio 11:11. The owners, who moved back to their native New Zealand during the Covid Pandemic, wanted to create a place they could quickly settle into with their young family. The Auckland and Melbourne based studio curated a selection of vintage and antique furnishings paired with more modern design classics for a slightly familiar feeling to the spaces. A natural, earthy and textural palette of finishes was used to give a sense of tranquility and comfort in their new home.

In the formal living room rounded forms of the curved sofa and marble coffee table contrast with the graphic lines of vintage pieces including an armoire crafted from dark wood and an elegant floor lamp from France. The warmth and tactility in this space is further enhanced with textile pieces including the Armadillo rug from The Ivy House and loom woven wall hanging from Public Record. The lamp on the plinth is from Studio 11:11's Collectibles series.

Carefully selected artworks and ceramics are dotted around the home injecting the spaces with a quietly sculptural and layered feel. On the dining table is the Triple Tray 2.0 in African Walnut by Arno Declercq from Simon James, and the artwork on the wall is from Public Record. The wall art sculpture in the lounge is by Ray Haydon from Sanderson Gallery.

The bedroom effortlessly fuses old and new with the ClassiCon Roattino floor lamps designed by Eileen Grey, bedside tables by Città, and a vintage dresser from John Stephens & Company. The ceramics are by Julie Cromwell from Sanderson Gallery.
