I've always been drawn to natural wood in interiors. I love how it injects warmth and develops a beautiful patina over time, and I'd love to one day redo our kitchen with wood elements. Swedish company Superfront who specialise in designing fronts, sides, tops, handles and legs for the IKEA cabinets have just launched The Wood Collection and it's providing some fresh inspiration.
The collection offers timeless designs in ash wood veneer for the Ikea frames: Metod, Pax and Bestå, and is available in two styles, plain and grooved, and six unique finishes. Ash wood is chosen for its beautiful grain and the different stains are in a UV-resistant lacquer to ensure longevity. One of my favourites is Umber Wood, a dark finish that looks similar to walnut, teak or smoked oak but has its own unique character. I love how this stained ash wood, which is also a sustainable alternative to tropical woods such as wenge and mahogany, pairs perfectly with soft beige textural walls and contrasting stone benchtops.
