Apartment O by Joanna Lavén

5.06.2020

Looking through the portfolio of Joanna Lavén, it's easy to see why she was awarded Interior Designer of the year 2019 by Swedish Magazine Residence. Creating homes that are refined, elegant and layered, here's a look at one of her most recent projects, an apartment renovation in Stockholm.

Joanna Lavén was enlisted to transform the apartment to suit a family and their lifestyle. The home belongs to Erik Bratsberg, whose interior curation and styling work you may remember from this recent project. Needless to say, Erik’s great interest in design meant that he wanted to be part of the renovation process, and the two worked together sharing ideas and thoughts throughout.

In addition to being adapted for family life, social interaction and downtime, the home now showcases an international quality with unique design objects that work in harmony with the colour palette and textile selection. The overall design also highlights the apartment’s charmingly preserved detailing, without sacrificing functionality required for the family, and their day to day living.

The Living room features the Tufty time sofa by Patricia Urquiola, a coffee table by Niklas Runesson, the Flos Snoopy table lamp and floor lamps by Mario Bellini. The Walnut stool is by Charles and Ray Eames and the sculpture is by ceramic artist Trine Birgitte Bond. Known for creating 'kitchens to die for' Joanna designed the space with marble benchtops and soft grey cabinetry. The chairs were reupholstered in a natural coloured leather that will age beautifully.

Such an incredible curation of furniture and lighting, many of the pieces such as the hallway bench by Torbjørn Afdal, and floor lamp by Stilnovo, were won at auction. You can see the full list of product details here.

  1. Is it possible to know who is the artist who did the white art piece?

    1. Unfortunately there is no reference of that in the source. I would recommend getting in touch with the interior designer. Good luck, it's a beautiful art work! x
