Coco Flip Launches New Lighting Collection 'Honey'

3.15.2019

I'm excited to share that one of my favourite lighting designers, Kate Stokes of Coco Flip, has created a new collection, Honey. Showing at Melbourne Design Week as part of a group show called Material Thought at Modern Times, the Honey collection includes a pendant light, table lamp and wall sconce. Taking cues from the humble honey dipper’s soft curves, the unique design features a stepped geometric silhouette that is a nod to a stylised Art Deco sensibility.

Established in 2010 and run by Kate Stokes and Haslett Grounds, Coco Flip works closely with local craftspeople and manufacturers to create lasting products with depth of character. With play being a crucial part of their design process, they begin with a mood or tone and carry out in-depth research into new materials. For me, Honey sparked the same reaction as their stunning Jolly lighting range for NAU, it feels fresh and unique with incredible attention to detailing.

Hand made by some of Melbourne’s finest craftspeople, Honey is a beautiful collaboration with Bendigo Pottery, Charles Sandford and glass artist Amanda Dziedzic. Offered in slip cast ceramic stoneware, or hand turned American White Oak, a number of glazes and finishes are available. White or pink hand blown glass completes the pieces, and provides a soft, diffuse glow.

A sculptural piece that celebrates Melbourne’s local artisans, Honey provides a subtle ambient light. The perfect statement piece for any area of the home!

Following on from Design Week (March 14 —24), Coco Flip will be officially launching Honey to the Design Industry at Denfair from June 20 — 22.
