Today's home is a beautiful Farmhouse located in the lush countryside of Main Ridge on the Mornington Peninsula. Part of an ongoing project by Melbourne-based Griffiths Design Studio (they are currently working on stage two), the house is being transformed into a relaxed yet sophisticated modern home. Reflecting the natural elements of its surrounding rural environment, the new driftwood French Oak timber boards are one of my favourite features. Replacing the old polished time floors, they give the home a rustic warmth and natural continuity with the homes country setting, while newly rendered walls featuring a hand-rubbed, ultra-fine deep grey patina add further depth and texture. The muted palette and understated style is enhanced by the use of beautiful textiles, natural stone and leather.
The home also boasts an incredible connection to the outdoors with open-plan living spaces featuring floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Timber panelled walls and white-slatted ceilings add to the sense of light and space. I can't wait to see more.
