I'm so happy for my talented friend and blogger Hege Morris of Hege in France who recently launched her online store S2 20. With a lot of hard work and her eye for beautiful design, Hege has sourced a stunning range of Nordic homewares, from artists and designers all over the world.
Focusing on small independent designers and unique, handmade products, Hege says:
“I wanted to create an online shop that really gave individual designers and artists the chance to showcase their talents and passions, as well as capturing the pared back Nordic style I love so much. While much of what we recognise as Nordic design has become ‘trendy’ and perhaps ubiquitous, I really wanted to celebrate the understated elegance combined with functionality that defines true Nordic style. By choosing to work with individual artists and designers, who are perhaps less well known, I hope to bring their flawless craftsmanship to a wider audience without sacrificing that classic Nordic look that many people are looking for today.”
Hege, who is Norwegian, has a background in interior design and her thoughtful approach has come about through years of experience and time spent living abroad. She has lived in the UK, France, China and Scotland where she currently resides. The name S2 20 stands for Studio 220 where the shop is based. In 2011, while living in France, Hege started her blog (hence the name) and its success has resulted in exciting collaborations as well as appearances in books, magazines, newspapers and on large international blogs. Paving the way for her new venture, the collection’s brands include Second Skin by July Adrichem, candle holders by Nicholas Oldroyd Design, limited edition print collection from Samantha Totty, handmade linen by Not Perfect Linen and leather products from by Wirth.
S2 20 also has a Designer Focus page where you can take a behind the scenes peek at where some of the products are made, along with photos and the artists' bios.
Collaborating with another talented blogger, Bianca of My Unfinished Home to produce some beautiful imagery, the shop offers easy browsing with products categorised by type such as Lighting, Magazines, Prints and Jewellery and materials such as Glass/Ceramics, Textiles, Wood and Metal. With so many gorgeous products on offer I found it hard to choose, but here are a few of my favourite picks.
Second Skin Bowl

Macrame Wall Hanging
Potted Plant Print
Bergman Light No 5
Washed Linen Cushion Covers
