Simple Workspace Styling

6.02.2015

If you're self-employed, you will have no doubt spent time working from a make-shift home office. In our previous house, an old rental during our our build phase, I worked many long hours at the dining table, bed and sofa with my laptop in tow. Nothing made me happier than setting up my own office in our new home, and it's still one of my favourite areas.

While you may not have the luxury of a designated room, a home workspace lends itself well to improvisation. Utilise a corner of the bedroom or living room, a kitchen nook or even under the stairs. Upcylcle an old desk with a coat of paint, and add some love and comfort to an old or chair with a sheepskin, cushion or throw. In terms of styling, keep your space as uncluttered and functional as possible, but add your own personal style. Look for small storage containers to keep your bits and bobs in one easy to reach place, and add some nature by way of a plant or fresh flowers.
