Mini Grandi Artist

2.26.2015

Showcasing two beautiful artworks by new design studio mini Grandi Artist, today's post involves a very special collaboration. Founder Sophie Melville is a talented painter and graphic designer who I have known since school days here in Auckland. Naturally creative and passionate about art, Sophie graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in New Zealand with a Fine arts degree specialising in Painting. Now living in the picturesque town of Wanaka with her husband and two small children, surrounded by the lake and mountains, Sophie says she is grateful everyday to live in such a beautiful part of the world. Experimenting with artwork and textures in her studio, the beautiful pieces for mini Grandi Artist (little grown up artist) are inspired not only by nature but also her children, and their small yet precious everyday moments.

Sophie very kindly sent me two of her original works to style. Silver Leaf features painted and scratched leaf forms and has been designed with Scandi-style simplicity in mind, and  Silver Moon is perfect for little 'grown up' children's rooms and features a painted and scratched moon with a watercolour background and hand drawn stars.

My first thought was that a beautiful little girl’s room would be fitting for these gorgeous artworks, and luckily I had the perfect space in mind. Thanks to my cousin and very close friend Victoria Halford of Scout and Deliver, I had the pleasure of using her one year-old daughter Darci's room, along with an array of gorgeous things to use as styling props. Of course it helps that Vic is a product scout with a passion for styling kids rooms. A love of interiors definitely runs in the family!
