Check In | Wiesergut Hotel, Austria

5.02.2013

It's been such a long time since my last Check In post, because I simply haven't discovered any standout hotels to share with you, that haven't already been around the Internet. Recently I came across the Wiesergut Hotel in the small alpine town of Saalbach-Hinterglemm in Austria and that all changed. Stunning architecture, beautiful interiors and an incredible ski-slope location providing expansive views, make this resort hotel a must see.

The Wiesergut is a small hotel resort made up of Manor and Garden Suites, the latter having direct access to the skiing and hiking area in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. While the Manor suites are pared-back and serene in quality, with white walls and a minimalist aesthetic, the Garden Suites below are darker and more rustic, thanks to wood panelling on the ceiling and stone detailing on the walls. I also love the monochrome palette and pale wood in the restaurant, bar (above) and quiet library. Fresh herbs and vegetables are sourced from the courtyard garden, promising a selection of hearty and healthy meals.

Judging by the stunning interiors, I would imagine this hotel would appeal to design savvy travellers wanting to experience all that the outdoors has to offer, as well as luxury and comfort indoors. Bespoke furnishings, an amazing collection of lighting and materials such as untreated wood, natural stone and weathered leather provide an exquisite mix of textures and a warm, cosy atmosphere.

The calming neutral palette, rustic wood furniture and hand-blown glass pendant lights in the Manor Suite make it my favourite...

What could be better after coming in off the ski slopes, then indulging in a spa treatment or a leisurely swim in the heated pool...

  1. Yes, yes, I'd love to stay here. It's the personal touches that give a home soul - so much harder to do in a hotel, but this place is gorgeous. x

  4. Phoar...truly stunning place. Visual overload, as if the interior design/styling wasn't amazing enough, the views outside...you would have to soak it all up with expensive bubbles in that bath...after doing some mean as bombs in the pool of course.

    1. Of course! Although I cringe at the thought of those beautiful curtains in the pool area getting wet! :-)
