Homes to Inspire | Attic Apartments

11.04.2012

Making the most of an attic (the space beneath the ceiling) can be challenging, but if it's done right it can become a really appealing area of your home, and one that draws people in. Whether you turn it into a cosy spare bedroom, kids playroom or extra living space, it's sure to have that special attic charm.

I've discovered some amazing attic apartments in Sweden lately via the website freshome, and thought I'd share some of my favourites with you today. Located in beautiful historic buildings, these open plan spaces feature flawless interior design and gorgeous Scandinavian style.

This spacious attic apartment, located in a historic building in Gothenburg immediately caught my eye. Beautifully modernised with white walls, shelving and cabinetry, it also has a rustic feel thanks to the exposed brick walls and beams.

Occupying the top two floors of an 1885 Stockholm building, this attic has been converted into a stunning two-story apartment. While original features have been retained, space saving solutions have given the new home a fresh, modern feel, resulting in a lovely mix of old and new.

This charming little two bedroom attic apartment in Gothenburg was listed on Swedish real estate site Alvhem. The small space appears larger due to its design and colour palette of white with pops of bright colour.

Another attic apartment in Gothenburg found via Alvhem, this one sits on top of a romantic Art Nouveau building dating back to the early 1900s. An alluring light-filled open space, I love the floor to ceiling library and beautiful semi circular window.
