Monday Mix Up

5.25.2015

Sitting down at my desk last night to do some planning I knew a Monday Mix Up post was in order for today. After all, what better way to ease into the working week than by looking at some beautiful interior inspo?

Understated with a mix of old and new, this is the head office of Productz, designed by Brisbane-based interior designers and furniture store AP Design House. Photographed by Toby Scott, it is one of several AP Design House projects he has captured beautifully behind the lens. Launching a new website soon, I'm looking forward to seeing more of their work.

Featuring the latest flooring collection from Swedish design company Bolon, I saw first saw these images via the portfolio of Heidi Lerkenfedlt, whose work greatly admire. I have since discovered that the collection, aptly called Flow, highlights design fluidity, visual motion and soft pastel shades by the use of a transparent warp that allows the weave's subtle colours to shine through. The overall impression, reminiscent of a tranquil, watercolour vista is stunning.

I couldn't resist including a peek of Heidi's latest editorial work in today's mix. These spaces are amazing.

You can tell a lot about someone by their beside, which is why I love the 'My Bedside Table' feature in Kinfolk. The first one below is from Issue Fifteen, with beautiful styling inspired by Hans Ulrich Obrist, a renowned critic, art historian and curator at the Serpentine Galleries in London. One of his rituals which I love the idea of, is to visit a bookstore and buy a book every day. One of my resolutions for 2015 was to buy more books, however I think one a month would be a slightly more realistic goal for me!

This bedside is from the current Issue Sixteen which I have yet to get my hands on. Kinfolk's take on the bedside of Starr Hout, cofounder of New York-based Fashion Brand Apiece Apart reflects her preference for creating a sanctuary. I'm particularly impressed by the fact that she keeps her phone away from her room at night. I wish I could say the same!

Scandinavian brand Oliver Furniture produces the most beautiful pieces for both kids and adults. Designed by Søren Rørbæk, these Glass Cabinets have a timeless quality to them. I highly recommend checking out the full collection, including the kids furniture. You won't be disappointed!

Monday Mix Up

5.11.2015

I'm fighting off the Monday blues while juggling work, and having my youngest at home sick today. If you're feeling under the weather like us or have a case of Mondayitis, these beautiful bright homes and interior finds should help brighten your day.

Revisiting the Sydney-based C+M Studio who I featured here, I'm loving their newest project CABARITA. Located in a beautiful coastal location, the townhouse refurbishment features a simple layered palette of natural materials, as carried through from the fittings and finishes to the soft furnishings and furniture, all selected and curated by C+M Studio. You can find details of these products over here.

The Labo Pendant Lamp by Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri, designers and founders of Something, is the latest in a series of lamps made from borosilicate glass for Italian manufacturer Penta. A natural progression from their first Labo lamp collection, inspired by instruments from chemistry laboratories, they have taken that idea and suspended it from the ceiling. The beautiful pendant lamp is made up of three domes,  arranged along a central tubular body carrying the cables that connect the lamp to the ceiling. Labo comes in either transparent or smoked glass, and the metal parts are available in different finishes.

British Design icons HemingwayDesign and Royal Doulton have teamed up to to create a a range of striking, mid-century design inspired ceramics. I really love the fresh feel and pretty colour palette of these pieces which include serving bowls, vases, storage jars and jugs. Pop over here to find out more about the collection, which is due for lunch in June.

Another bright and cheerful home to finish off, House in Double Bay is located on a leafy street in eastern Sydney's Double Bay. The latest project by award winning architectural firm TRIBE, the interior is soft, warm and inviting. A standout feature is the sun drenched double height void, that frames a lush green back garden.

Monday Mix Up

3.09.2015

It's been a while, but today's line up definitely called for a Monday Mix Up post. Interior design, styling, homewares, furniture  - even some for your precious bébé - this is how I like to kick off the week!

I got a little lost in these dreamy images when I first spotted them over on Est. A Victorian terrace in Melbourne's South Yarra, it has recently undergone the first of a two stage renovation by designer Fiona Lynch, whose work I have been admiring for some time. The living space has been transformed into a peaceful escape with custom designed cabinetry and new furniture, a beautifully soft colour palette and sheer curtains.

Following on from this post, Danish brand by Lassen are launching more products for 2015. A twist on the traditional peg, Stropp is a new hanger that beautifully demonstrates Scandinavian simplicity and quality. Combining leather (black, brown and natural) with metals (black, copper or brass) in differing variations, when it comes to using the Stropp, the only limit is your imagination. Use for tea towels in the kitchen, bags and shoes in the hall, or magazines and newspapers in your office or reading nook.

In response to huge interest in the View Collectionby Lassen have introduced the View Mirror in copper. Beautifully minimalist, the design of this mirror gives the impression that it 'floats' from its place on the wall. Suited to any room or area of the home, I love using mirrors in interiors to make a space appear bigger and to create atmosphere. Joining the black and white View Mirrors, the new copper matches the iconic Kubus collection and Twin side table. Showing once again that the strong metallic accents we have been seeing in interior design over the last couple of years are here to stay!

The Stropp, Copper View, Saxe folding chair (from my last post) and The Tired Man chair (shown above) will be in stores from April.

The stunning Toward sofa by Danish designer Anne Boysen for Erik Jørgensen features a clever design and lovely aesthetic. Its versatility which thanks to moveable armrests means it can be arranged as a chaise lounge, an armchair or for two people to sit facing one another! Available in several colourways, I love the GreyThe Pink Lady and Balanced Blue

Earlier this year I introduced you to Incy Interiors, the Australian designer furniture company. Specialising in beautiful pieces for children and babies, they have just launched Teeny, a range of Nordic inspired Cots and Change Tables. Offering a veritable haven of Scandinavian cool, the new pieces capture the principles of simplicity, minimalism and functionality, while at the same time radiating warmth and modern-day charm. Made from New Zealand pine, they are available in two neutral colour palettes, dove grey and crisp white, and are designed to stand the test of time.

Featuring rounded corners and sturdy, removable sculptured side rails, I love that Teeny cots can be transformed into a ‘big bed’ as baby grows. Like wise, the Teeny change table, which has three shelves below the change table surface, can be converted into a bookcase. Visit Incy Interiors to shop online or find your nearest stockist.

Monday Mix Up

1.12.2015

Today's Mix Up post features three beautifully elegant Danish brands. The first is Woud, a new discovery promising designs that radiate "love at first sight” through colours, textiles, wood and aesthetics. Admittedly my heart started racing as soon as I took in the range of stunning products. With the perfect combination of form and function, Woud strives to add a touch of innovation while staying true to the simplicity anchored in their Nordic design heritage. With the launch currently underway, Woud will be presenting their new collection at the upcoming design fairs in Copenhagen and Stockholm. Take a look at the Woud SS15 catalogue and follow on Instagram and Facebook for all the behind the scenes details.

The well-loved and always inspiring Danish brand House Doctor have launched their  Everyday Collection for 2015. Secret Signatures is an informal take on Scandinavian design, with a calming and subdued colour palette featuring hues of green and grey. A combination of sculptural details, offbeat art objects and vintage references, this looks like one of their best yet! Check out the catalogue here

I've been admiring the Danish brand GamFratesi for some time. A visit to Cult Design late last year sealed the deal when I saw (and tested) their Beetle Chair. Manufactured by Danish company Gubi, GamFratesi takes their inspiration from both the anatomy and aesthetic of the beetle, reinterpreting the beetle’s hard and characteristic shell and structure in a chair that, like an actual beetle, has a hard exterior and a soft interior. Timeless and extremely conformable, the chair is fully upholstered in Kvadrat fabric with leather piping detail. I've also been itching to share the beautiful Verandah Restaurant in Copenhagen with you and would love to one day visit it in person. Designed by GamFratesi, it features both the Beetle Chair and Beetle Stool

It's hard to choose, but my other pick from GamFratesi would have to be the Volume lamp, manufactured by Danish lighting company Lightyears. A small table lamp that takes inspiration from the buttons on the old stereo amplifiers, the intensity of the light can be increased or decreased  by a simple rotation of the hand on the shade. Oh how I would love one of these for my office desk or String shelf!

Visit GamFretesi to see their entire collection.
