THE DESIGN CHASER

Eight Brook

10.17.2016

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with the new Australian skincare brand Eight Brook, to create some imagery for the launch of their first product, the Charcoal Detoxifying Mask. With their beautiful website now live, I'm thrilled to share their story with you.

Embracing warm minimalism, the Eight Brook aesthetic and sleek presentation immediately resonated with me. I loved styling and photographing the Charcoal Detoxifying Mask, but I was also intrigued by what was inside this beautiful bottle! An invigorating mask designed to detoxify and re-oxygenate your skin in just five minutes, I can tell you first hand that it really does deliver. How does it do it? Enriched with botanically, the activated coconut charcoal draws out impurities and toxins. It also includes Aspen bark to purify the pores, Australian native caviar lime to gently exfoliate, and biofermented lemon peel to balance the skin tone. Housed in an airless glass bottle to protect the formulation, the mask contains entrapped oxygen, which is activated upon application to the face, causing a light tingling sensation. Providing a positively sensorial experience, from the very first time I used it I noticed a difference, and now after using it regularly, my complexion is visibly smoother and more radiant.

Eight Brook was founded by a small group of individuals with a diverse range of skills. The product development is led by Edyta Stelmach, a fully qualified cosmeceutical chemist with a degree in formulation science. For more than a decade, Edyta has toured the globe and designed bespoke products for leading cosmeceutical companies. Though she enjoyed working behind the scenes for many years, Edyta felt that the right time had come to put her own mark on a brand that embodies her ethos and vision. By making products that truly work, that are designed to provide multiple benefits in a single application and improved skin health over time, Eight Brook means less products in your skincare routine, and more time for you.

Their first product which is also the first Oxygenated Charcoal Mask on the the market, is a perfect example of this.

"These days a lot of us are time poor and heading out to the beauty salon for a treatment is often a luxury. With that in mind I wanted to create a product that could bring the indulgence of a salon treatment straight to your door step. To be used whenever you have the time. This generated the idea to combine a salon oxygen facial with the fantastic detoxifying qualities of activated charcoal. The highly sensorial mask is so easy to use, either as a five minute treatment before showering or left on whilst you soak in a relaxing bath! It leaves the skin super smooth and revitalised." With such an incredible debut product, I can't wait to see what Eight Brook are launching later this year. Due out in December, the five new products will include active serums with in-built hydrators (say good-bye to your moisturiser) and two multi-functional cleansers to really save you time in the bathroom. All of the products are made in small batches to preserve the freshness of the ingredients and housed in high tech airless-glass packaging shipped straight from Italy. Eight Brook also pride themselves on including only the best Australian sourced botanicals and hypoallergenic fragrances developed especially for them.

Worldwide shipping will be available soon, and as an introductory offer, Eight Brook are offering free shipping to both Australia and NZ.
