I've been thinking a lot about coffee tables lately. I'd like to move our current one to the downstairs living, which means getting a new one for upstairs. I'm in no rush however, because unless I push the table out of the way the kids can't resist using it, and it ends up being more of a toy table than a coffee table.
I've always loved the idea of the Hay Tray Tables, but I keep coming back to round designs. I like the way the curves of a round table soften the square edges of the sofa and picture wall. Still hankering for the &Tradition Hoof Table that I included in this wishlist, I also love the round tables on offer at Hem that I featured here. Today I've gathered up some more covetable contenders.

My ultimate dream would be two nesting tables, because I love how versatile they are. Constantly moving furniture around, I would have them side by side, or use the small one as a side table in the living room or bedroom if needed. While I'll always love the classic Scandi look of white and pale wood, I also love using black accents in our home. One like this next coffee table would work well.

Two beautiful designs to finish off, one features a handy storage container and touch of copper. The other is a showstopper in marble and was presented at the recent Stockholm Furniture Fair. You may remember The Turning Table below from this post featured in white oak. I really like the new black ash colour.
Beautiful selection of coffee tables! I was thinking seriously about getting a new coffee table some time ago, but I think I'll stay with the current one for some time so that I don't have to protect some more expensive table from my little one who uses it also for playing and drawing :) But if I'd have to choose I'll choose also a round one because of the points you mentioned + the round edges seem to be more friendly to kids than sharp steel corners of Tray table for example.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently also coveting a round coffee table with the perfect proportions and made from beautiful natural materials. I really like the table in your first picture by Novel Cabinet Makers. Gorgeous. I'll have to see if they are available to the UK.
