I think I underestimated what an enormous job this move would be. It's amazing how much stuff you accumulate, especially with little kids. I've tried to be ruthless this time around, disposing of as much as possible. We got a skip and I've been frantically auctioning off old furniture and kids stuff on Trade Me, as we have the rental until Friday. About a week before the move I injured a rib (random, I know) so the day before the move when I realised (a little too late) that the excruciating pain I was in needed attention, I was rushing to the doctor, having x-rays and seeing a chiropractor. Of course the packing and lifting has only made things worse - talk about bad timing! Thank goodness for anti-inflammatory pills.
Aside from that, things have gone pretty smoothly. The house is still being finished, so we've had builders here and painters doing touch ups, which is a bit challenging with an energetic three year old on the loose! Overall, we are just so happy to finally be in, and although it's going to take a while to get everything sorted - furniture assembly, wall mounting art etc - I'm going to settle in for the ride and enjoy every minute!
I know you want a sneak peek of the house, so here are a few pics from my Instagram feed, taken in the lead up to and during the move.
I've now got to get back to the old house to let the cleaners in, then I think I'll tackle some more furniture assembly! See you back here tomorrow.
Looks amazing Michelle, gorgeous finishes!! x
