THE DESIGN CHASER

New + Noted | BoConcept

6.13.2016

I'm very excited to be introducing you to some wonderful new products by BoConcept today. The first is Napoli, a corduroy velvet fabric developed exclusively for the Danish design brand. For today's post I styled the elegant Carlton sofa by Anders Nørgaard, which has been upholstered in the forest green Napoli. Not only a gorgeous colour to work with, I was immediately drawn to the tactile nature of the fabric. Soft to touch with a beautiful textural feel I was interested to learn that the fabric is composed of twisted fibres that, when woven, lie parallel in order to form a distinct pattern like a 'cord'. The resulting fabric looks as if it is made from multiple cords laid parallel to each other and then stitched together (hence the name corduroy). The vintage look of the fabric goes hand in hand with the Carlton sofa which was inspired by the atmosphere of elegant homes from the late 60s and early 70s. With a minimalist view point and steel frame, the sofa is beautifully light and refined. In addition to forest green, Napoli is available in burgundy, golden beige, silver grey, stone grey, taupe and turquoise.

The Copenhagen by Morten Georgsen for Bo Concept is a multi-functional wall system that celebrates Scandinavian heritage and simplicity. Designed for living, dining and office areas, there are options to suit every need whether it be for storage, entertainment, a display solution, bookcase, sideboard, or console. Suited to those who live in small homes and need to optimise every square meter, it also caters to those who live in large houses, who have space to build endlessly. With personalisation being a key factor, I was in my element styling the Copenhagen for today's post. Deciding to take advantage of our ceiling height, I chose a vertical unit which has an amazingly versatile combination of shelves, cabinets and drawers in varying sizes. Choosing a colour combination proved a little more tricky because there are some really beautiful options including walnut and charcoal, which I knew would look amazing with the forest green Carlton sofa. In the end I went with the the matt white and oak veneer because I can't go past this classic Nordic look. However it was the ash grey fronts really won me over. I love that they provide a new dimension, adding both warmth and contrast to the overall design. Styling the shelves with books, magazines, ceramics, and other accessories, I was amazed at the amount of space available for both displaying favourite items and storing those things you prefer to keep out of sight.
