THE DESIGN CHASER

Studio Esinam

1.19.2015

Based in Sweden, studio esinam was founded by art director Josefine Lilljegren and architect Sebastian Gokah. The creative duo produce beautiful architectural art prints that capture the unique aspects of cities around the world. Whether it's the feeling you get from visiting a certain city, the texture of a façade or the balance of an interior space, their aim is to explore and communicate the deeper qualities of architecture, by looking at it from new angles and presenting it fresh and engaging ways.

Appealing to those who have a genuine interest in interior and exterior spaces, the artworks spoke to me straight away. Aesthetically I love the minimalist style and clean lines, and was very excited to have the opportunity to style a couple of the prints in my home. I chose one of my favourite cities Paris, and one of the cities I would most like to travel to, Stockholm.

From the Elevations series, the Stockholm print looks right at home in our living room, giving this corner a fresh update for the start of the year. I had fun styling this area in two ways, the first a monochrome setting with a few touches of copper, which you might have seen on Instagram. I chose to share the more colourful setting with you, because I think the summery vibe is perfect right now. The geometric cushions from Juno Home Studio add a playful touch.

The beautiful Paris print makes the perfect addition to my picture wall. Part of a new series, Landmarks, these limited edition prints pay honour to buildings and monuments that have become synonymous with places, neighbourhoods and cities as a whole. To Josephine and Sebastien, architecture is so much more than just visual. Fascinated with the symbolic values of the buildings, they see the stories that surround them, capturing the essence of what each place means to them, in both their complexity and simplicity.

".... it’s the smell of the bakery shop on the corner, the feeling of a handle when entering a building, the sound of cars or birds forming the back drop of a scene. It’s the memories and emotions that a place can preserve for decades and bring to life in a second, the calming experience of your grand parents old cabin or the rush hour in a metropolis."
