THE DESIGN CHASER

Homes to Inspire | Classic Cool

11.11.2012

This beautiful, light-filled home north of Copenhagen is made up of large airy rooms, high ceilings and an amazing collection of designer furniture and vintage posters. The workspace above is one of my favourite areas of the home. I love the Arne Jacobsen Syver chairs, and collection of lamps which include a table lamp from Italian lighting designer Artemide, a wall lamp from the 40's, found in Paris and an old PH-chandelier, hanging from the ceiling.

An old exhibition poster looks fantastic framed and hung in the living room corner. More design classics are seen here with the Hans J. Wegner CH-07 Shell chair and Parentesi lamp, designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos.

Framed vintage posters are seen throughout the home. The owner is crazy about them, and has a favourite haunt in Paris where she sources many rare ones. She also finds them on the internet and at flea markets.

An old Swedish stove in the living room heats the room in winter.

I love this eye-catching graphic poster in the kitchen. Mirroring the grey of the floor, it fits in perfectly with the interior.

The kitchen is a lovely mix of old and new. Modern benchtops and cabinetry feature alongside a tabletop that is made from floorboards found in an old, abandoned church.

The light and the poster were found in Paris and the small painting is by Pascale Serre.

The beautiful living room is furnished with a mix of family heirlooms and designer pieces. I'm in love with the textures and colour palette. There are too many design classics to list, but a few standout pieces are the Cité armchair designed by Jean Prouvé in 1930, the sheepskin covered chair by Harry Bertoia and the Potence Wall Lamp, also designed by Jean Prouvé in 1950.

Another poster graces the wall in the bedroom, picking up the colours from the bedding and dresser. The modern ceiling lamp was designed by Anu Moser for Louis Poulsen.
