The Interior | Pure Minimalist by Ameé Allsop

9.11.2018

I first shared the work of Australian architectural designer Ameé Allsop back in 2014 and I've been following her journey ever since. Born in Sydney and raised in New York, Ameé started her own design studio in New York in 2013 with a focus on architecture that extends to interiors, furniture and objects. Her quest for simplicity, thoughtful design and richness of materiality and form really resonates, so I was excited when she launched her first furniture collection earlier this year. Entitled Pure Minimalist, the collection is about calming the senses and enticing a poetic change, much like her recent move from Brooklyn to the beaches of the East End. Handmade in New York with select travertine and solid American ash, the seven piece collection is available from the beautiful East Hampton store, The Interior, shown below.

AA105 Armchair ash and linen and AA106 Coffee Tables made of travertine

Offering a curated selection of products and furniture inspired by comfort, a minimal aesthetic and natural elements, The Interior was founded by Stephanie Michaan, who has designed residential and commercial spaces in New York City, the Hamptons, Bedford, NY and St. Barths. Drawing inspiration from travel and the ocean for her spaces, the store provides the perfect backdrop for Amee's collection of minimal furniture. They sit alongside pieces from some of my favourite brands including Danish designers Kristina Dam and Frama, ceramics by Yoon-Young Hur, artworks by Jessica Sanders, woven baskets by Doug Johnston, linens by Hawkins NY, lighting by Workstead and many more.

The AA103 Chair above is one of my favourite pieces. A stunning design, I love the combination of clean lines and soft curves. It's unique silhouette pairs beautifully with the solid forms of the dining table and bench seat.
