THE DESIGN CHASER

Dinesen Home

5.19.2017

I'm sure most of you will be familiar with the Danish wooden flooring company Dinesen. I've featured their beautiful products many times on the blog so it is with much excitement that I will be visiting their Copenhagen showroom in early June as part of the 3daysofdesign press tour. Today I'm sharing images of the remarkable Dinesen Home in Copenhagen. Designed in 2003 by British designer Anouska Hempel, the exclusive apartment features the unique Douglas planks as a key design element throughout. In 2015, the home was redesigned by Dinesen to form a private setting where the passion for wood, architecture, design and art is evident in every detail.

The images are so breathtaking, it must be a truly sensory experience to see it in real life. Richly decorated with modern art, exclusive furniture and bespoke solutions in wood, the eye-catching Douglas planks are extraordinary by nature.

Dinesen Home captures the essence of the family-run company: the passion for wood, architecture and design, the high level of quality, close client relationships and the desire to provide a source of inspiration.

When Hempel created the exquisite Dinesen Home more than ten years ago, she thoughtfully combined Dinesen Douglas floors with one-off furniture in the same material. For the redesign, attention has been paid to every single detail. The indirect light, which is a signature feature for the designer, creates an evocative setting for the many elements to be explored. One of my favourite rooms is the office which features a collection of books on architecture, art and photography and an incredible plank table which has been dyed with Linseed Oil in the colour note Paris Blue.

To embrace both the past and the future, the apartment is furnished with customised classics as well as modern Danish and international furniture. The mood is Nordic and light with international substance and appeal.
