I hope you're enjoying the Best Design Awards Series. I know I keep saying it, but there is so much design talent in New Zealand and I love choosing finalists to share with you each week, leading up to the big Awards Night. What do you think so far? Any favourites?
Fearon Hay Architects. The Imperial Buildings (New Zealand's Best Spacial Design | Built Environment)
This collection of heritage buildings in Auckland's CBD has undergone a massive restoration while at the same time retaining its richness and character. Lots on offer day or night, I love it's urban, industrial feel.
Saatchi & Saatchi Design Worldwide. ATC Brochure (New Zealand's Best Graphic Design | Editorial and Books)
Black and white photography and blood red graphics provide a dramatic design, perfect for the Auckland Theatre Co. brochure.
Milk is an iPad magazine, designed by Natasha Mead. With a focus on 'simple pleasures', categories include interviews, literature, lifestyle, home & recipes and DIY tutorials. Simple, fresh design and oozing style, I'd say Natasha is one to watch. Follow her at www.milk&mead.com.
Tonkin Zulaikha Greer in association with Paul Rolfe Architects. Cloudy Bay Shack (New Zealand's Best Spacial Design | Residential)
This breathtaking new building at Marlborough's Cloudy Bay vineyard provides guests with the best of contemporary NZ design.
If you regularly visit Matakana, you'll know that eating Omaha Organic Berries ice cream comes with the territory. Not only are their ice creams and sorbets to die for, they also come in great packaging.
What do you think of this week's finalists? Pop back next Monday for round four!
Tomorrow's post will be a 'Pinterest Picks & Peeks'. See you then!
