THE DESIGN CHASER

January Cravings

1.19.2018

January marks an exciting time in the design world with many of my favourite Scandinavian brands launching new collections for Spring 2018. The design fairs have already kicked off, with new products launched at IMM Cologne, soon to be followed by Stockholm Design Week. Needless to say, the wish list is growing by the day. I've picked out a few favourites from Danish brands Menu&Tradition and Skagerak, along with some stunning new sculptural pieces from Swedish brand Odem Atelier

Musings + Moodboards

3.28.2016

I hope you're all having a lovely Easter. I've embraced the chance to relax, have fun with the kids (we even braved the Royal Easter Show this year) and of course indulge in a good dose of chocolate. I find that when I get back on the Internet after a break I become completely immersed in catching up on the world of interiors. Great inspiration but a huge distraction when there is so much work to be done! I have some exciting projects on the go right now and I can't wait to share. In the meantime (with the first Musings + Moodboards post I have done in a very long time), here are a few things from my wishlist and mental scrapbook of ideas.

Wishlist | Winter Cravings

4.27.2015

It's been a long weekend here in NZ, and last night we were over at friends enjoying what I'm sure will be the last barbecue for a while. The weather has packed in today and it's finally starting to feel like winter. This morning we're off to brunch with family and then I'll be settling in to work for the afternoon. I'm hoping the rain will set the mood for some great productivity, but it's also a good excuse for online shopping don't you think? I always seem to splurge a little more in winter, probably as a way of cheering myself up during the dreary months. This may also provide some last minute Mother's Day gift ideas for those who need it! Here's what I'm currently craving.

October Wishlist

10.14.2014

A new season usually brings with it a new wishlist, and this month I'm focused on spring cleaning and adding a fresh touch to both my home and wardrobe. The warmer weather calls for lighter layers of clothing, swapping the boots and high tops for slip-ons and sandals and looking ahead to summer. Already a proud owner of the original Roundie Aztec Beach Towel, gifted to me by The Beach People earlier this year, I was thrilled to see that Mildred & Co were now stocking them, along with some gorgeous new designs. A must-have for visits to the beach and park, and big enough for two people, I think we may need another. In addition to AWESOME I highly recommend checking out Therese Sennerholt's entire new range of prints. I love them all!

2. Awesome Print by Therese Sennerholt Design

July | Inspo + Wishlist

7.16.2014

Although it's been on my to-do list since the start of the month this post has somehow never been ticked off, until now! The upside is I've had a bit more time to think about what I'm currently coveting, and I've even ordered a couple of things on my wishlist!

Clearly my love of monochrome and nude is still going strong. Winter calls for cosy layers and right now I can't think of anything more appealing than an Icelandic sheepskin, cashmere jumpers and fragrant candles. I'd really like some new jewellery, in keeping with my style which is very minimal. Recent discovery, Danish brand Still With You fits the bill perfectly, as do the beautiful range of The Horse watches, which are now available in NZ from Paper Plane. Forever chair-obsessed, I'm currently loving spindle-back chairs, like the J77 Chair designed by Folke Pålsson for Hay. Books and art are always on the list, as are products from Menu simply because they are just so good and I can't get them out of my mind!

01. Hay J77 Chair from nest.co.uk
02. Icelandic Sheepskin by The Organic Sheep from La Maison d'Anna G
03. Maison D'armore Feuille De Tabac Candle from Superette

05. Framed Black Lines Art Print by RK Design from Society6

Grey Love | Moodboard + Wishlist

2.25.2014

When it comes to interiors, I find grey to be an excellent staple. A grey sofa or rug in the living area provides a great starting point, while grey furnishings such as cushions and linens look great with monochrome, neutrals and wood. For Spring and summer I especially love grey mixed with fresh whites and soft pastels. For bolder colours or to change things up with the cooler seasons, I like the idea of trying navy, mustard, or burgundy.

You'll always find grey in my home and wardrobe, and I'm already looking ahead to winter, with a few things on the wishlist such as a wool coat and sneakers. Highly unlikely that I'll be buying the Marc Jacobs coat and pieces by Muuto this winter, but a girl can dream, right?

1. Menu Weight Here Candelabra from House & Hold
2. Marc By Marc Jacobs Max Wool Blend Coat from Net-A-Porter
