THE DESIGN CHASER

Eight Brook

10.17.2016

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with the new Australian skincare brand Eight Brook, to create some imagery for the launch of their first product, the Charcoal Detoxifying Mask. With their beautiful website now live, I'm thrilled to share their story with you.

Embracing warm minimalism, the Eight Brook aesthetic and sleek presentation immediately resonated with me. I loved styling and photographing the Charcoal Detoxifying Mask, but I was also intrigued by what was inside this beautiful bottle! An invigorating mask designed to detoxify and re-oxygenate your skin in just five minutes, I can tell you first hand that it really does deliver. How does it do it? Enriched with botanically, the activated coconut charcoal draws out impurities and toxins. It also includes Aspen bark to purify the pores, Australian native caviar lime to gently exfoliate, and biofermented lemon peel to balance the skin tone. Housed in an airless glass bottle to protect the formulation, the mask contains entrapped oxygen, which is activated upon application to the face, causing a light tingling sensation. Providing a positively sensorial experience, from the very first time I used it I noticed a difference, and now after using it regularly, my complexion is visibly smoother and more radiant.

Eight Brook was founded by a small group of individuals with a diverse range of skills. The product development is led by Edyta Stelmach, a fully qualified cosmeceutical chemist with a degree in formulation science. For more than a decade, Edyta has toured the globe and designed bespoke products for leading cosmeceutical companies. Though she enjoyed working behind the scenes for many years, Edyta felt that the right time had come to put her own mark on a brand that embodies her ethos and vision. By making products that truly work, that are designed to provide multiple benefits in a single application and improved skin health over time, Eight Brook means less products in your skincare routine, and more time for you.

Their first product which is also the first Oxygenated Charcoal Mask on the the market, is a perfect example of this.

"These days a lot of us are time poor and heading out to the beauty salon for a treatment is often a luxury. With that in mind I wanted to create a product that could bring the indulgence of a salon treatment straight to your door step. To be used whenever you have the time. This generated the idea to combine a salon oxygen facial with the fantastic detoxifying qualities of activated charcoal. The highly sensorial mask is so easy to use, either as a five minute treatment before showering or left on whilst you soak in a relaxing bath! It leaves the skin super smooth and revitalised." With such an incredible debut product, I can't wait to see what Eight Brook are launching later this year. Due out in December, the five new products will include active serums with in-built hydrators (say good-bye to your moisturiser) and two multi-functional cleansers to really save you time in the bathroom. All of the products are made in small batches to preserve the freshness of the ingredients and housed in high tech airless-glass packaging shipped straight from Italy. Eight Brook also pride themselves on including only the best Australian sourced botanicals and hypoallergenic fragrances developed especially for them.

Worldwide shipping will be available soon, and as an introductory offer, Eight Brook are offering free shipping to both Australia and NZ.

Citta Design | Winter 2016 Collection Giveaway

6.14.2016

Following on from my in store styling at Citta Design last week, I'm now going to share some at home styling along with an exciting reader giveaway! As mentioned in last week's post I absolutely loved styling the living room scene in store with pieces from the Winter 2016 Collection 'Beautiful Utility - A Journey to 1970s Berlin'. The muted colour palette and textural elements that make up the collection are incredible. Perfect for creating a warm and cosy space, Beautiful Utility allows you to carry the soft hues though to your kitchen and dining areas with the gorgeous new Talo Ceramics range.

For me winter calls for time spent indoors and plenty of hearty meals shared with friends and family. Whether it's for everyday use or special occasions, tableware is such an important element and Citta Design provides the perfect offering. Set to become a household favourite, the Talo range which includes an assortment of mugs, bowls and plates comes in five colours, providing endless combinations. Whether you stick to one colour or mix and match you cannot go wrong! I particularly love the earthy mauve and concrete colours paired with fresh white.

New + Noted | BoConcept

6.13.2016

I'm very excited to be introducing you to some wonderful new products by BoConcept today. The first is Napoli, a corduroy velvet fabric developed exclusively for the Danish design brand. For today's post I styled the elegant Carlton sofa by Anders Nørgaard, which has been upholstered in the forest green Napoli. Not only a gorgeous colour to work with, I was immediately drawn to the tactile nature of the fabric. Soft to touch with a beautiful textural feel I was interested to learn that the fabric is composed of twisted fibres that, when woven, lie parallel in order to form a distinct pattern like a 'cord'. The resulting fabric looks as if it is made from multiple cords laid parallel to each other and then stitched together (hence the name corduroy). The vintage look of the fabric goes hand in hand with the Carlton sofa which was inspired by the atmosphere of elegant homes from the late 60s and early 70s. With a minimalist view point and steel frame, the sofa is beautifully light and refined. In addition to forest green, Napoli is available in burgundy, golden beige, silver grey, stone grey, taupe and turquoise.

The Copenhagen by Morten Georgsen for Bo Concept is a multi-functional wall system that celebrates Scandinavian heritage and simplicity. Designed for living, dining and office areas, there are options to suit every need whether it be for storage, entertainment, a display solution, bookcase, sideboard, or console. Suited to those who live in small homes and need to optimise every square meter, it also caters to those who live in large houses, who have space to build endlessly. With personalisation being a key factor, I was in my element styling the Copenhagen for today's post. Deciding to take advantage of our ceiling height, I chose a vertical unit which has an amazingly versatile combination of shelves, cabinets and drawers in varying sizes. Choosing a colour combination proved a little more tricky because there are some really beautiful options including walnut and charcoal, which I knew would look amazing with the forest green Carlton sofa. In the end I went with the the matt white and oak veneer because I can't go past this classic Nordic look. However it was the ash grey fronts really won me over. I love that they provide a new dimension, adding both warmth and contrast to the overall design. Styling the shelves with books, magazines, ceramics, and other accessories, I was amazed at the amount of space available for both displaying favourite items and storing those things you prefer to keep out of sight.

Other BoConcept products showcased above include the amazing Palancia rug, the Adria coffee table, Ogi chair and various pieces from the Living collection.

At Home with The Benny by Kate & Kate

4.10.2016

We recently welcomed The Benny by Kate & Kate into home, one of the new pieces from their stunning Winter 2016 Collection Exhale. Featured recently in this New & Noted post you may remember my excitement over the introduction of alpaca wool to their beautiful blanket staple. Off the scale in terms of softness, it fits like a dream into every cosy corner of our living area. If you are looking to invest in one warm blanket this winter, I highly recommend The Benny . For some soft Alpaca colour, The Helena is your lady and for a more graphic effect, check out The Skipper.
