Hunting for George | New Collector Series Art Prints + Custom Frames

2.27.2017

Australian homeware brand Hunting for George have launched their latest collection of Art Prints, the Collector Series. An exploration in painting, collage and illustration, together with a curated collection of original photography, the vibrant new series includes 24 new Art Prints across a diverse range of styles and sizes.

Whether you're after just one print or several to create a gallery wall, there are plenty of options including bold monochromes, striking photography, handpainted abstracts and soft watercolours.

“The energy of this collection is reflective of the environment in which it was created. Experimental and instinctive, we explored a range of mediums and techniques before refining these concepts on the computer. The creative process was incredibly refreshing. We allowed ourselves the freedom to step away and develop instinctively, and this unhurried approach creates a beautiful sense of calm in each piece.” -Lucy Glade-Wright, Hunting for George Brand Director.

The second part of the launch includes a range of Custom Made Frames designed to fit the entire collection. Australian made, these frames are sold pre-assembled in a choice of black, white and timber, with a multi-fit system to hang both portrait or landscape. This is great news for those who struggle to find frames for artworks. And judging by the number of questions I receive in this area, it's a common problem! Removing the frustration, Hunting for George now provides a complete offering, so you can put your art prints straight on the wall with no lag time. What's more, the multi-hang system allows more freedom in how you choose to use your frames in the future.

This launch is the first of many from Hunting for George for 2017 and includes a sneak peek of new products destined to join the collection including Australian made ceramics, bed linen, furniture and leather accessories. I can't wait to see more!

Father Rabbit | Paper Collective

8.11.2015

My heart skipped a beat when I received news from Father Rabbit yesterday announcing latest arrival. All the way from Denmark, Paper Collective brings together their favourite graphic designers, agencies, artists and illustrators to create inspirational and iconic graphic prints. The result is a fresh mix of limited edition prints, each one unique but equally beautiful. What makes this brand even more appealing is that they promote great causes and charities, with at least 10% of the sale of each print goes towards the artists chosen charity.

Paper Collective have collaborated with an impressive list of designers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Copenhagen and Russia. They include Form Us With Love, Hvass & Hannibal and TAF Architects to name just a few. When you browse through the prints over at Father Rabbit, you can read about each designer, along with their chosen charity.

Ahhh now to decide on which one! As you can see, the collection is vast but Father Rabbit are limited to just three of each design so make sure you don't miss out! Shop the collection here.

One more thing before I go today. You may have seen the AMARA Interior Blog Awards banner on the side of my blog recently. An honour to even be nominated, Amara is an UK-based company that houses over 300 of the world’s most luxurious home fashion brands. I'd love to have your vote to be in with a chance of being shortlisted! You'll find me in the Best International Interior Blog category, (for interior blogs based outside of the UK, Europe, the US & Australia). Simply fill in your name and email address here to vote. Thanks!

New Design Letters at Home

4.10.2015

As a long-time fan of the Danish design company Design Letters it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to some of their new products today. Instantly recognisable, the black and white typography that graces each of the designs was hand drawn in 1937 by the world renowned Danish Architect Arne Jacobsen. The recent introduction of Design Letters & Friends has taken the brand to new heights and brought about much excitement. Stylish and functional, and designed to suit the graphic product range perfectly, the collection includes furniture, mirrors, cushions and more!

Created for people of all ages, Design Letters includes a fantastic Kids Collection. My boys love their melamine pieces which often find their way from the kitchen to the kids rooms and desks so I knew they would be over the moon about getting some new goodies. The Paint Book, which hangs neatly on the wall includes colouring-in pages of the entire alphabet (times two) that can be torn out and displayed. Along with the crayons, which come in a gorgeous drum box, these have already been a big hit!

A clever new addition to the Classic Collection featuring Arne Jacobsen’s vintage ABC is the Cup Up wall mount. Available in black and white, they attach easily to the wall (I used 3M adhesive strips) to create fantastic little storage solutions and graphic wall installations.  Perfect for housing pens, paint brushes and other small items above the desks, I'm about to test them out on either side of the kids bathroom basin. Watch this space!

Also part of the Design Letters Classic Collection and a new addition to the range of storage jars, the new Multi-Jar has so many uses. In keeping with our monochrome theme I chose a black cap, but it also comes in grey and light pink.

Having been looking for a side table for some time, I couldn't be happier with our new Table to go. Designed by Christian Flindt for Design Letters & Friends, I love the simple yet functional design and handle detail. Made from painted steel, it is sturdy yet light enough to move from room to room. Available in three colourways, make sure you check out the gorgeous grey and turquoise options!

Marlow's Room | Dreamers Inc

3.23.2015

It would be hard to forget Dreamers Inc. the gorgeous new range of children's bedlinen that I introduced you to here. The beautiful, vibrant prints have found their way into many kids bedrooms since launching last year, looking right at home in the Scandi-style interiors that so many of us love. Given the opportunity to work some into Marlow's room was a dream come true, and I wasn't at all surprised when he excitedly chose the Green Budgie. A bird lover, it's his favourite colour and as anyone who knows Marlow will testify, this bold design reflects his personality very well!

In my last room update, there were some subtle pops of green which worked really well against his room's monochrome palette. This time I also wanted to play on the yellow of the bedlinen, which you can see with the new wall hook from Country RoadAs mentioned last time I use 3M adhesive to attach all of the hooks, so that Marlow can remove them freely without damaging the walls. The downside to this is that they can go walkabouts, and sadly the white Hay Gym Hook has done just that. Because I love them so much and can use them all around the house, I picked up another one in a light grey. Both are from Simon James Concept StoreAs you can see I also played around with the bedside styling to show you how it looks with a lamp. This one is from LET LIV

A new print for the wall was the final puzzle piece. We have a lot of kids-themed prints currently, so I wanted to find one that would transition easily from here to our other spaces. Tropical by Seventy Tree had been on my wishlist for a while so was happy to find it at local store Perch Home. It provides a bold geometric touch and ties in nicely with the overall theme of the room.

Design Ministry

1.07.2015

Design Ministry is a new home decor brand founded by Auckland-based graphic designer Samantha Vergis. Launching with a range of striking Scandinavian inspired bed linen,  Samantha sent me one of her cushions which features a monochrome cross on the front and copper grid on the back. Quickly making its way to our sofa, the clean minimalist design is the perfect fit for either the bedroom or lounge.

Eager to view the new collection in its entirety, I attended a launch evening held at MINI Garage in Newmarket and it didn't disappoint. In addition to beautifully styled beds showcasing the new designs, the MINI boots were up and packed with gorgeous Design Ministry cushions, providing plenty of eye-candy. All proudly designed, printed and manufactured in NZ, the products are characterised by both minimalism and functionality. If you're a fellow lover of geometric shapes and monochrome colour palettes, it doesn't get better than this!

A fascination for simplicity and clean lines paved the way for Samantha's initial career choice and has ultimately shaped her design style. During her final year at university she was tasked with self-directing an exhibition, allowing her to explore print and pattern design. It was then that she realised her passion for design lay in textiles and more specifically bed linen. Since completing her Bachelor of Graphic Design in 2009 she began freelancing and has worked as a designer ever since.

Samantha says Design Ministry was established not only as a result of years of planning and design refinement but also by furthering her knowledge of the local print and manufacturing process. While it is now her core creative outlet, Samantha still works with a range of clients. She not only enjoys the diversity of these graphic design projects but says that keeping up to date with a variety of different design areas influences her creations for Design Ministry.

As a New Zealander, it is important to Samantha to ensure that the products are not only made to a high standard but also support the local industry. As such they are 100% New Zealand designed, printed and manufactured. Certain to create a graphic statement in your home, the duvets are available in Queen, King and Super King size with pillow cases and cushions (square and rectangle) designed to mix and match.

Shop the full range online. With the next range of prints currently in production and the possibility of upcoming collections expanding into other areas of the home, be sure to subscribe and follow on social media to stay in the loop!
