BoConcept Introduces Soft Organic Designs for a Home Sanctuary

12.17.2020

I'm always excited to see the latest collection from Danish Brand BoConcept, and today I've picked out a few favourite pieces to share with you. For 2020, BoConcept has continued its partnership with Morten Georgsen, launching new organically shaped designs that are centred around the value of home - a sentiment more pertinent in current unprecedented times. More than simply a place for rest, relaxation and entertaining, the home is now central to life, identity, self-improvement and care. This desire for indulgence and sanctuary creates a demand for soft, cocooning forms and organic curves, and BoConcept has delivered just that.

Kingston dining table and Princeton dining chair
Soft and feminine, Kingston and Princeton feature curved elements that create a welcoming feel. This is further accentuated with the removal of hard edges, and while all the legs have a delicate matte finish, the Kingston dining table legs are gently tapered and inclined, providing a light, Nordic expression.

Available in two lengths with multiple tabletop surface options, the Kinsgton dining table includes BoConcept's popular butterfly extension leaf, providing added space for up to four extra diners when needed - Chrismas dinner immediately springs to mind! Engaging the leaf literally takes seconds and can be carried out by one person in just three almost effortless motions. There is also no need to worry about storing the leaf, as it is simply concealed within the tabletop. All too easy!

In Princeton, Morten strikes a balance between lightness and curvacious visual comfort, with a subtly feminine expression that can also be personalised, with over 120 fabrics and leathers to choose from. The elegant backrest invites, drawing the eye down to its comfortable seat. Once seated, the design creates a cocooning effect without hindering interaction.

Light, accessible and never imposing, these considered designs join the successful portfolio of products by Morten Georgsen, who has been designing bestsellers for BoConcept since 1993, including the iconic Milano table, the Como, Copenhagen and Bordeaux storage collections and the London bench. The award-winning furniture designer, who is based in Valencia, Spain, says “Simplicity and functionality are BoConcept core values. It’s often believed that functional design is created at the expense of beauty. Why, when you can have both? When you combine pleasing proportions with beautiful colours, materials and craftsmanship, you create a design that evokes a good feeling.”

Modena Sofa
I was immediately drawn to the new Modena sofa by its elegant aesthetic and curved details. Morten's decision to soften all sharp edges and corners has resulted in a beautiful visual comfort, while the organic expression continues with soft pull-in stitch details, ample seat thickness and the curve of Modena’s refined arm and sloping backrest.

The silhouette is given a minimal and contemporary feel with its low backrest and high sculptural legs in understated black. However, customers can also choose legs from BoConcept’s bestselling sofas, Indivi and Osaka. In keeping with the brand’s customisation design ethos, each Modena can comprise any of 18 modules, giving customers a plethora of configuration options to match any lifestyle and space. And the design can be upholstered from the brand’s full range of fabrics and leathers.
