NORR11 Showcases New Collections at the J.F.Willumsen Museum

2.20.2020

In Frederikssund, north of Copenhagen, there is a museum dedicated to the work of Jens Ferdinand Willumsen. Considered one of the most versatile artists in Denmark, Willumsen was a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, architect and photographer. Inspired by the beautiful architecture of the J.F. Willumsen Museum and the spirit of the artist that continually challenged his own work and the boundaries of society, Danish furniture brand Norr11 felt it was the perfect place to showcase their new collections. Teaming up with stylist Pernille Vest and photographer Heidi Lekernfeldt to create the stunning imagery, here's a look at the new lighting and furniture designs for 2020.

Deco series by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
With origins in cylinder wall lamps, found within lobby and entrance halls of 1930s Art Deco buildings, Deco is a highly minimalistic and simplified lamp design, based on sleek iron profile casing and a cylinder opal glass shade. The translucent glass shade is characterised by a rifled structure, adding a shimmering and decorative detail to the light. Elegant yet understated, I love this new collection. Deco includes a wall lamp, pendant and chandelier, with the pendant featuring an adjustable steel wire, cleverly enabling both vertical and horizontal lamp installations.

Frames by Anna Ohmsen & Emma Bukhave Vidarsson
An exciting release for NORR11, Frames is an award-winning design, having won both the the FSC Design Awards and the Mad & Bolig Design Awards in 2018. A dynamic pendant lamp which can transform from a 2-dimensional appearance to a 3-dimensional object, Frames is a manual contrast to the digital world we live in. The manual rotation, that allows you to create different light settings, creates a dialogue between you, the design and its natural material. Consisting of 72 joints, every single frame is handmade and quality checked before being connected with carefully selected parts in brass. Produced in FSC certified massive oak, Frames is available in four wood finishes; natural, smoked, dark stained and black.

"We do not compromise on quality, aesthetics or sustainability. With minimal material waste and the compressed flat-packing system, resources and transport are used effectively and responsibly." —Anna Ohmsen and Emma Bukhave Vidarsson

Gear tables by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
Gear is a collection of sculptural coffee tables inspired by Ancient Greek columns. Available in two sizes, a Side table and Coffee table, it features a simplified block-like structure, with three riffled legs that add a refined detail to the voluminous design. Made of cast fiber concrete, the table is hand painted, adding a unique surface texture to each table. Such a bold and tactile new addition, I love these tables!

Little Big Chair By Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
Founded in 2011, NORR11 strives to reinvent and rethink Scandinavian design to create timeless pieces of furniture, combining the past and the present. Collaborating with innovative young designers and working with the best manufacturers and suppliers to produce products of superb craftsmanship and quality, their collection of chairs have always been among my favourites in the world of Danish design. With its sculptural and organic shape, the Little Big Chair is a stunning new addition. Designed with comfort as the starting point, it features an innovative hidden swivel base, soft lines and an embracing expression. Incredibly welcoming, the lounge chair comes in barnum bouclé fabric, linen or velvet and can also be customised to individual fabric preferences.

Riff Sofa By Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
A sneak peek at NORR11's exquisite new modular sofa, Riff will be officially launching In Fall 2020, and is now available for pre-orders. Upholstered in linen, it features Art deco inspired fluted stitching on the back and sides, giving the sofa a truly beautiful and unique look.

Yo-Yo series by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
NORR11's third new lighting series for 2020, the Yo-Yo lamps are inspired by the concentric shapes of a Yo-Yo. Characterized by two circular opal glass shades placed opposite each other, a single layer glass ensures a bright illumination of the ceiling, while a double layer glass creates a warm and inviting atmosphere below the lamp. With translucent lampshades elegantly mounted in an industrial metal fixture, I love that the Yo-Yo has a classic yet playful expression. The gorgeous collection features two pendant lamps, as well as a table and floor lamp.
