THE DESIGN CHASER

New + Noted

10.30.2015

The new home of renowned photography app VSCO, these offices were designed by DeBartolo Architects and are located in one of Oakland's last remaining historic downtown buildings. Stripped back to wood, concrete and glass to expose the structure and bones of the building, the open plan design is free from partitions to encourage openness and transparency. In fact even the glass conference room is positioned in the centre of the space, in plain view of staff and visitors. With additions kept to a minimum and the workstations freestanding, I love the expansive glass window surrounds and beautifully curated clusters of designer furniture. A little bit industrial, yet still clean and understated, I'm sure the VSCO team are very happy heading into work everyday!

by Lassen have introduced some new products to their AW 2015 collection. The stunning Mesch throw made from 100% Peruvian highland wool features a simple geometric design based on a pattern by architect Mogens Lassen. Small but genius, the new Matchbox Cover makes perfect partner for the iconic Kubus range of candle holders the cover. Available in three striking variants this is definitely on my wish list.

Vipp have introduced some exciting new products recently including a daybed and lighting collection. Both reflect the Vipp philosophy of creating timeless pieces that last both functionally and aesthetically. The Vippdaybed is crafted with a 100% aniline leather mattress resting on a solid aluminium frame, while the The Vipplamps collection are made from die-casted, powder-coated aluminium with details in stainless steel.

Finally, the highly anticipated book, The Kinfolk Home is now out. As soon as I heard the first whispers of this book I pre-ordered mine and have been waiting months for its release! It's arrival yesterday had me jumping for joy. Sitting pretty on my office shelves below, the book features 35 homes around the world. Each one reflects the values of slow living: cultivating community, simplifying our lives and reclaiming time for what matters most. I highly recommend adding this to your collection.
