THE DESIGN CHASER

TDC x BoConcept | Part I

7.28.2015

Some of you will have seen my post on Instagram yesterday, announcing a very exciting project with Danish Design company BoConcept. Our current living room set up shown below is about to undergo a transformation with a brand new sofa, and over the next four weeks I'm going to document the journey here on TDC.

Choosing a new sofa is a big decision, with many important factors to consider. What I love about working with BoConcept, is that in addition to offering an extensive range of stunning furniture, they help you get the most out of your space. They create not only great design icons, but furniture you can customise to fit your exact needs. I love flicking through the latest BoConcept catalogue for ideas and inspiration and I'm a regular visitor to the store where I'm always met with friendly, helpful service. I couldn't wait to get started on the selection process, and with camera in hand I happily went through the paces of looking, touching and testing out each of the sofas in the beautiful Auckland BoConcept store, located inside the Bloc Retail space.

Having had a two-piece sofa set for some time, I'm keen to explore an alternative option, one that offers versatility and a significant change to our current configuration. The Carmo sofa is one that I kept coming back to, and I'm sure you'll see why. Contemporary Danish design at its best, I was immediately drawn to the clean lines and modular style. I also love the distinctive shape and fine detailing with the piping on the edges.

As soon as I sat down I noticed an exceptional level of comfort, enhanced by the addition of extra padding on the armrests. Imagining how great it would look in our living room, I can also envisage hours of enjoyment sitting and relaxing, and hanging out with family and friends.

The Carmo certainly ticks all the boxes, presenting so many possibilities and combinations. While this may be a daunting prospect, you can rest easy at BoConcept, knowing that the highly skilled staff are there to listen to your needs and offer complete guidance. They can advise you in the store or come to you home, offering visually different solutions to help make your dreams come true. I will go in to more detail regarding this part of the process next week.

First up, I need to choose the fabric and colour!

There really are no limits in terms of colours and materials. The luxe felt and leathers really appeal, and while I do love the pale grey colour of the Carmo sofa on display in store, I want to embrace change and choose something new. Carrying on with the next step of the design process next week, I'll be taking some fabric samples home to get a feel for them in our space.
