Dining Rooms | Bright, White + Green

5.28.2013

I've been thinking a lot about the dining area of our new home lately. The pendant lights arrived yesterday which is very exciting, and I've found both the trestle legs and the table top that I want. The chairs will have to wait but our existing ones will work for now, with the help of some sheepskins to warm up the cool steel seats. What I'm really looking forward to however is the surrounding space. The open-plan layout that includes the kitchen and living, the white walls, black joinery of the windows and doors to the adjoining deck, and white ash wood flooring.

I really love dining spaces that bring in lots of light and greenery from the outdoors. Indoor greenery is wonderful too, and that's one of the key elements of these spaces I'm going to show you. Plants and fresh flowers really brighten up the room, adding texture and life. Regardless of style, be it vintage-industrial, rustic or modern, adding touches of green to bright white interiors is a simple formula that works every time.

I hope you've seen something here that inspires. I'm heading off to seek out some cosy sheepskins! See you back here tomorrow.

  2. Some crackin shots there. Totally dig our dining room, but the missing element is the greenery. Still a little cautious due to little fingers roaming around, but had a wee spy in the weekend for options, and man theres options!

I have spotted a few that I like which I have seen in blogs etc. Have you done a post on the world of funky greenery?

  4. Also a massive fan of the pendant in pic number 2, and a few of the others are on my pin boards already! I've been focused on lighting this week...we're building our own home at the moment and there are just so many things to think about! Just been told about your blog and its an absolute gold mine, such a similar aesthetic to what we're going for.

  9. I sounded so blunt in my comment yesterday. I have been walking with your image 1 for weeks now. I got the white chairs and the woodentable.my next step is the lights. I have found something similiar yesterday but are not sure which size you used and this can be the make or brake of the whole look.I would really appreciate it if you can help me with the details of the lights please? Once i have ordered it i have to wait a week for deliverance. I would like to send you a pic of my dining room. It will not look exscactly like Image 1. I had to mix it with decorations I already have but i am excited to finish it of and thank you for sharing your ideas. It help me tremendously. I also have a bench on the one side of the table for which I will have a cushion made. Cant wait to finish and move on the next room. Thank you!

  12. Hi Michelle, to my dissapointment I dont receive any reply from Anna. Think I have to move on. I have to order my lights. While looking for industrial lights on the internet i found so many different sizes. Maybe you can help me to choose the right size. I am not a interior decorater at all. My table is 2.5m by 1.1m. I thought a 400d light would make the right impression. What would you advice in your professional knowledege? I would appreciate your advice. Many thanks Heidi
