Homes to Inspire | Danish Loft Apartment

9.16.2012

I first came across this elegant factory conversion on housetohome, the online resource for Living etc magazine. Transformed into a light, airy and beautiful space by the CEO of Danish design company Vipp, it's the kitchen that I keep coming back to. The cantilevered, floating island is such a stunning feature. The sense of space is cleverly maximised by it's design - you can see the floor across the whole room, and what a gorgeous floor it is! Pale, wide floorboards are my absolute favourite right now. Echoing the shape of the gorgeous minty green island, is an all-in-one cooker hood and cupboard structure suspended above.

Beautiful character windows run along the side of the apartment, letting in loads of light. Divided into two seating areas, the living space is calm and peaceful. Stunning furniture, carpets and two olive trees are used to define the different zones in the open-plan space.

The music area, complete with piano and library, provides a sophisticated haven to relax in.

The apartment's pared-back aesthetic continues in the two bathrooms which are both simple and stylish.

I love the neutral colour palette in the master bedroom. Custom made by Jönsson Invent, the bed and headboard fit in beautifully with the room's natural style.

A lovely gilt mirror which belonged to the owner's mother sits beautifully in her bedroom.

The comfortable guest bedroom features a striking yellow painting by Danish artist Sos Brysch.

I hope this lovely home has given you some weekend inspiration. I'll be back tomorrow with round four of the Best Design Awards.

  1. I would love having an all-white-colored house but I think it'll be hard to maintain cause it's white and yeah, dirt will more likely be attracted to it but if it was being bid to property auctions liverpool I would love to buy it.
