Homes to Inspire | Art House

9.23.2012

I found this home on the inspiring Danish website Bolig. Kristina Dam, the owner, is a graphic designer and artist who as a child liked to rearrange the furniture in her room every weekend. A common trait in those who love to decorate, Kristina is always plotting changes, constantly looking at ways to make improvements to her home.

The daybed, Kristina's favourite piece of furniture, was a fleamarket find. The throw and coffee table are from Hay, and the floor cushion is from Ferm Living.

Much like Kristina's art, her home is black and white, infused with bright colours. The vases on the stylish mid-century sideboard are part of a collection from Germany.

The kitchen is big and bright, with a simple table from Hay and Eames chairs. The gorgeous plates on the wall are Kristina's works and the pendant light was another great fleamarket find.

The bedroom comes alive with vivid use of colour. The blue quilt is from Hay, the cushion from Urban Outfitters and the yellow stool from Gubi

All artworks in the bedroom are by Kristina. I'm in love with the the over-sized collage. There must be some great fleamarkets in Denmark - the stool is yet another great find. More stunning vases from Kristina's collection sit beneath a cute little bedside shelf.

A pretty white vase from Kristina's collection sits on the bathroom windowsill and fresh flowers add a touch of colour.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'll be back tomorrow with another round of Best Design Awards finalists.

  2. That apartment looks almost like a gallery. And why do they have in Denmark always so great ceilings, floorings and huge windows??? And why do we have in the south the right day light for it but the rest is missing? :-)
