Wool in Style

6.17.2012

When it comes to furniture, I have a fondness for chairs, especially the design classics from Bertoia and Tolix. Made from steel, I love their industrial style, however they can be cool to sit on, especially during the winter months. A popular solution, seen a lot in Scandinavia and other cooler climates, is the use of wool. Just throw on a cosy sheepskin and you'll have a toasty warm tush in no time!

There's certainly no shortage of sheepskins here in NZ but one place I recommend is Ecowool. Their Exclusive New Zealand Sheepskin Rugs are super-soft, and naturally free from harsh chemicals often used in the tanning process. Perfect not only for use as rugs but also throws for chairs and sofas, they can be custom made to any size. They also come in a range of great colours, although I don't think you can go past creamy white. Even better, you can shop online, with free international shipping.

  1. Thank You very much for visiting my blog!
I have also lots of sheepskins at my house, in bedroom, living room and on chairs. My cats love them and it is so cosy and warm to touch or sit on a skin. I found also dark grey sheepskins in IKEA, I hope they still sell them.
    With best wishes,

    1. Hi Eelie, sounds like you have lots! How lovely and cosy. Dark grey would definitely be my next choice after white. We are still waiting for Ikea to arrive in NZ but they are meant to be coming .. I can't wait! Welcome also to my Facebook page - that was a nice surprise!

  2. Love the sheepskin idea. I'm such a fan of the Tolix myself but always worried about it being a little too uncomfortable for a long dinner party so here's the answer. Thanks for sharing! Mel
